Rome, Italy

Tuesday, February 22
Here are the rest of the pictures from tuesday...
(I started to post them ahem... months ago)

Passetto di Borgo
an elevated passage that links the Vatican City with the Castel Sant'Angelo.
Some popes used it to flee from troops invading the city 500 years ago.

Castel Sant'Angelo or
Hadrian's mausoleum. It's a museum now.

Ponte Sant'Angelo

Back on our way to the inner city

This is my favourite picture!

Welcome to Piazza Navona! There is a little demonstration going on...

A beautiful place full of art...

This portraitist was amazing...

Not far from Piazza Navona you'll find the famous
Pantheon

It is gigantic... very impressing.

Maybe the hole in its dome is even more famous?

And not very far from the Pantheon -
Santa Maria sopra Minerva

I LOVE this elephant!
Italian artist Bernini created it after a real elephant which practically travelled whole Europe in 17th century!

Largo di Torre Argentina -
old remains in the midst of city life!

It is also the Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary - a no-kill shelter for homeless cats!!
It's so cute that there's even a website for it!

Sorry but I just LOVE cats!

On our way to....

(A funny relocation service!)

... Sant'Ignazio

The fresco by Andrea Pozzo - it's full of illusions!
What a great artist.

That's it for tuesday!
